New
Bedford ACTS
(A Community Together
Succeeds)
formed in November 2004, is an all-volunteer group
of New Bedford area residents, educators and
businesspeople working to creatively and urgently
identify short-term and long-term solutions to
violence in New Bedford through a Community
Dialogues process.
While we do not expect easy solutions, we strongly
believe that concerned New Bedford residents,
businesspeople and educators, when invited to, will
engage in constructive and empowering conversations,
or Community Dialogues, |

that can lead to real solutions
that will change the pattern of violence on our
streets and in our neighborhoods. The Community
Dialogues process has worked effectively to address
issues of concern in other communities such as
Boston, where the city’s proactive program of
community-based dialogues is now in its tenth year.
New Bedford ACTS is an initiative organized by a
group from
Leadership SouthCoast and the Public Safety
Committee of the
New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce to develop
solutions to community concerns through the
Community Dialogues process. |
